Bitters are the ‘Salt and Pepper’ of the bar trade as they help marry together disparate flavours and aromatics into a deliciously complex sensory experience. Beara Bitters is densely flavoursome alcohol made by infusing herbs, seeds, and fruit into organic alcohol to create a highly aromatic premium product that is 25% alcohol. There’s a choice of 3 flavours available in 50ml droplet bottles (which make 30 cocktails) ideal for use at home and also 200ml bottles which are a favourite of the bar trade. The flavours include:
Aromatic Bitters: These Classic bitters are a must have in every mixologists tool kit. They have a sweetness derived from fruit and French gentian which rounds out the flavours creating a tasty addition to drinks such as an Old Fashioned, Pink Gin, Negroni, Dark ‘n’ Stormy, Tiki Max, Whiskey Sour and Manhattan cocktails.
Orange Bitters: Made with infusions of orange, lemongrass, cloves, cocoa and grains of paradise. The orange bitters brings floral notes to mixed drinks and work well in drinks including Daiquiris, Black Manhattan, Old Fashioned with Orange bitters, Zombie, Martini, Rob Roy, Cognac and Coke and Margarita cocktails.
Smoked Pear Bitters: Inspired by traditional preservation methods, Smoked Pear cocktail bitters is a fruity choice with a distinctly smoky finish that compliments complex drinks such as Naked and Famous, The Penicillin, Scotch Sour, Mexican Mint Julep and a Closing Argument cocktails.
A couple of drops of bitters can transform non-alcoholic drinks such as soda water to add flavour, whilst being a very low alcohol option. They also work well in spirits or added to cocktails. Bitters are also a useful ingredient in baking and can be used in a way similar to vanilla essence.
Beara Bitters is ideal for gifting the cocktail lover and their website offers various gifting options with glassware. Prices start at €18 for 50ml bottle. For more information and to shop online visit bearabitters.com
